East Timor Consultation Registration Extended

The Australian Electoral Commission was advised today by the United Nations that registration for the East Timorese Consultation has been extended by 4 days until Sunday 8 August.
The Australian Electoral Commissioner, Mr Bill Gray, said that Australian Electoral Commission registration centres will now provide registration services for the East Timor Consultation until 4.00pm Sunday 8 August in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Darwin.
To be eligible to register to vote you must be 17 years of age or above, and be:
- A person born in East Timor; or
- A person born outside East Timor with at least one parent born in East Timor;or
- A person born outside East Timor but whose spouse was born in East Timor; or
- A person born outside East Timor who is the spouse of a person with at least one parent having been born in East Timor.
To register, you must attend a Registration Centre in person, and present at least two documents to prove your identity and your eligibility. In some cases more than one document will be needed to prove eligibility to register.
