97, 583 enrolled to vote in Mayo by-election

A total of 97 583 Australians are eligible to vote in the Mayo House of Representatives by-election on Saturday 6 September 2008, the Australian Electoral Commission Divisional Returning Officer for Mayo, Peter Verkerk announced today.

This figure compares with 96 401 electors who were enrolled in the electorate of Mayo at the close of rolls for the 2007 federal election.

The electoral roll closed at 8pm, 8 August 2008 for the Division of Mayo House of Representatives by-election.

Election day for the electorate of Mayo House of Representatives by-election is Saturday 6 September 2008Voting is compulsory for Australian citizens aged 18 years and over and enrolled in the electorate of Mayo.
