Declaration of candidate nominations for Mayo by-election
Candidates, media and the public are invited to attend the declaration of nominations for the Mayo by-election to be conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) at 12.00 noon 15 August 2008.
The Divisional Returning Officer for Mayo, Mr Peter Verkerk will officially declare the candidates, and then conduct a random draw to determine the candidate positions on the ballot papers.

Nominations for the by-election close at 12noon, Thursday 14 August 2008.
Election day for the Mayo House of Representatives by-election is Saturday 6 September 2008. Voting is compulsory for Australian citizens aged 18 years and over and enrolled in the federal division of Mayo.
