Candidates, media and the public are invited to attend the declaration of nominations for the Lyne by-election to be conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) at 12 noon, Friday 15 August 2008.

The Divisional Returning Officer for Lyne, Vicki Holman will officially declare the candidates, and then conduct a random draw to determine the candidate positions on the ballot papers.

Details on how the draw for positions on the House of Representatives ballot paper is conducted are available on the AEC website at www.aec.gov.au.

Nominations for the by-election close at 12 noon, Thursday 14 August 2008.  

Election day for the Lyne House of Representatives by-election is Saturday 6 September 2008.Voting is compulsory for Australian citizens aged 18 years and over and enrolled in the federal division of Lyne.
