Augmented Electoral Commission decides boundaries and names for federal electoral divisions in the Northern Territory
Deliberations on the names and boundaries for the federal electoral divisions for the Northern Territory have concluded.
The Hon James Burchett QC, Presiding Member of the augmented Electoral Commission, announced the Commission’s unanimous adoption, without alteration, of the proposed redistribution as published by the Redistribution Committee on 20 June 2008.
“The Commission has considered and adopted the redistribution proposed by the Redistribution Committee. No changes have been made to the land boundaries, which have been in place since December 2000, for the federal electoral divisions of Lingiari and Solomon,” said Mr Burchett.
“The redistribution process has been concluded without the need for hearings or further objections, as no objections were received to the proposal.”
The formal determination of the Northern Territory redistribution was gazetted today. The augmented Electoral Commission’s final report, including a map of the divisional boundaries, will be tabled in the Parliament shortly and then published.
